Business cards for Dr. Young

I have been working closely with Dr. Young, a San Antonio Periodontist, for almost a year now and the time finally came to re-vamp his business cards.  He really wanted to start connecting with people on Facebook & Twitter so we decided to go against the norm and actually put his social links on the front of his business card.  We also implemented a QR code, which will take people straight to his website. **Try it from your smartphone right from the computer screen.**  The map on the back of the card is to help patients find him easier. He is pleased with them, and the QR code is a great conversational piece.

Chris & Julianna

I have really enjoyed working with Chris & Julianna these past couple weeks.  The first engagement photoshoot didn’t really go as expected because Chris’ car got a flat tire on the way to the location.  So I ended up finding them on the highway, helped Chris’s dad change the tire, followed them to the tire place on their little spare, and got the tire replaced.  This was pretty much the entire time we had set aside for the photoshoot and the sun was on the horizon by the time we were done.  Looking across the parking lot I saw a open lot, so that it where we took our shots.  They turned out pretty good.

Although it probably wasn’t fun for them, I kinda enjoyed it.  There is nothing like changing a tire on the highway, with cars driving past within 2 feet of  your head because they won’t scoot over a lane to pass you.  Gets the blood pumping.  :-)

Business Portraits for NeXsmile – San Antonio Photographer

I got to shoot the business portraits for NeXsmile, a San Antonio based dental company that works in full mouth restorations.  These portraits where a lot of fun.  I actually shot these in front of a green screen to allow for more options with design and color.

Dental Brochure

Just finished a brochure for Dr. Young (a periodontist in San Antonio) for his general dentists to have something to give to their patients. Since Dr. Young’s niche is NeXsmile and full mouth restorations (although he does everything a Periodontist does), I created this rack card for him with a perforation at the bottom so that it could double as a business card.  The crop marks and information on the side was not in the final print, I am just too lazy to change it for this post.  :-)

The QRcode has custom tracking tags as well so that we can see how many people are actually using it.  Surprisingly, no on has used the QRcode yet.  Also, the portraits you see where taken my me as well.  Lots of fun, now onto the next marketing piece!

Megan – San Antonio Senior Portraits

Last week Megan became our first free senior portrait session for the month.  Senior Steal of a Deal is still underway, and will be all summer.  But remember, “The early bird gets the worm.”

Baby Beaugh

My long time friend Sarah had her third daughter a month ago and she is a cutie.  I have not been around newborns since my boy was born, and I was shocked to see how much she slept! :)  Our boy almost never slept like this. This made the sleeping shots super easy to take.  Thanks for cooperating baby Beaugh!  Sarah’s kids have the best little personalities too.

New Dental Website for San Antonio Periodontist

I have been working with Dr. Young for 8 months now, and he has some big plans for helping his colleagues within the profession of dentistry. This is just the beginning of a website that I am currently building for him. It is going to have WordPress CMS (easy for him to use) and it will come complete with forums, online store, and more. I am really excited about what this will look like when it is done and how it will be able to help so many dentists.

Brian’s Senior Portraits | San Antonio Photographer

Brian's Senior Portraits

I have always enjoyed having the honor to capture my brothers school pictures throughout the years.  To me, portraits are a very personal thing… well at least good portraits are… and that is why I have felt honored to take theirs.  Being able to capture someone’s personality and life in a way that is unique to them is not easy.  It requires a completely different mindset compared to the standard poses and backgrounds, which for me is like the whipped cream on my regular morning cup of coffee.

For his senior portraits we set out to capture  his personality, manliness, and artistic spark.  So to my youngest brother, baby of the family, I say, “I am proud of you for what you are doing and keep up the good work.  You are an awesome person and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.”

Native Guatemalan Woman

Almost a year ago I was in Guatemala, with a great team, helping an orphanage called Fundaniños build a website that would allow people to sponsor children at the orphanage.  It is an amazing, loving place for these kids to find refuge.  If you are looking for an orphanage to support, they are awesome and love those kids unconditionally.

Our last day in Guatemala was spent in Antigua, which was awesome!  While there, I really wanted to get a good black & white of a native Guatemalan woman.  This was exactly what I was looking for and what I had in mind.  Wrinkles, piercing eyes, and a genuine smile.

Customizing WordPress Websites | San Antonio, Texas

I had the pleasure of customizing a couple wordpress websites for some clients this last week.   They had the same theme for their blogs, which made it faster and easier for me to fix. They were  San Antonio Entrepreneur Network and Construction Connection.

Here are some of the changes I made to one/both of the sites:

  • reworked the header by moving the search bar down to the menu bar and expanding the top image across the page (also changing the theme so that the client could continue to update the image at those dimensions)
  • removed extra tabs on the front page of the blog
  • removed extra advertisement spots and unwanted categories from showing up in the sidebar
  • adjusted specific feeds to remove double postings
  • removed a double “continue reading..” was occurring in the theme

There is more than that, but those are the main things.  It didn’t take that long at all and they now have blogs they are happy with.  I really enjoyed working with them.
